Evaluation of Humans and Software for Grading in an Engineering 3D CAD Course

At the ASEE 2019 conference, Dr. Sarah Grigg presented the paper, “Evaluation of Humans and Software for Grading in an Engineering 3D CAD Course”. The paper showed how a synergy between software grading and teaching assistants (TAs) grading of SOLIDWORKS 3D model files could lead to the best grading outcomes. The paper compared TA grading to Graderworks (a software grading tool for SOLIDWORKS files),  and the research found that the software could automate repetitive grading tasks so that human graders could focus on higher-level feedback to students (e.g., suggesting a more effective 3D modeling strategy).
